When Your Mind Wants Answers… but Your Body Holds When Your Mind Wants Answers… but Your Body Holds the Key: Somatic Healing could be the answer. When you’re living with chronic, long-term symptoms, you’ve probably tried thinking your way through recovery; analysing, researching, troubleshooting, trying to “figure it out.” That was certainly me for years and years. But there’s a somatic approach most people have never heard of - a nervous system regulation modality that doesn’t depend on willpower, positive thinking, or endless “trying to understand”.In a recent session, someone asked me:
“How is this working? I don’t understand it.”
Their symptoms were easing in real time… and the mind couldn’t keep up.If you’ve never heard of somatic healing work, or you’re curious why the mind struggles to “get it,” I just wrote a blog article for you, with practices to get you started. I explain what somatic healing is, why it works, and what real-time change can look like - so that you can recognise your own progress.Your system may be waiting for something simple, effective, and more instinctive than you think.💬 Comment “Help” and I’ll DM you the direct link to the free resource library.

• your body feels fatigued
• your mind won’t switch off
• you’re lying down but not ever feeling restedThis is a way to give your nervous system a clear signal of safety, so it can step out of survival mode and allow recovery, repair, and regulation to begin. This short meditation practice is especially supportive for:
• chronic fatigue syndrome / ME
• insomnia or nighttime waking
• Long Covid
• nervous system dysregulation🎧 You’ll find the meditation on my YouTube channel. Go Listen 💗

💗I remember the exact moment when grief started to 💗I remember the exact moment when grief started to be released from my system. For so long It didn’t feel like sadness.
It felt like pain, fatigue, pressure in my chest.
And then grief began to appear as part of this healing journey.Your nervous system and brain are always working together to protect you.
When emotions become too much, or they come up too fast, the brain and body may create symptoms to shield you; not because the system is broken, but because of old patterns.💗 This condition isn’t just “stress”.
It’s past patterns, pain that was never processed, stored emotion that is hidden from the conscious mind.
There’s the weight of what’s never been felt, and it’s being carried by the whole system.👉 Try this 1 minute practice now:
Place one hand on your heart.
Let your eyes soften or close.
Say aloud to your heart:
“I don’t have to feel it all right now. Just one breath is enough.”That’s how rewiring begins:
That’s a very brief, introductory somatic healing practice - one that is safe to do alone - one moment to be with yourself that your nervous system and brain can recognise as safety.
If you can allow this moment of self-compassion where there used to be fear and disconnect, then you are turning things around.
🌸 This is the work. And you’re doing it.💬 Comment “Help” and I’ll DM you the direct link to the free resource library.

Many people with chronic symptoms are givers. They Many people with chronic symptoms are givers. They care about others. They are conscientious and so kind.Or we could look at it another way; they are overly responsible, over-accommodating, and often disconnected from their own emotional truth. This was certainly true for me.Overgiving and people-pleasing are often framed as personality traits, and framed as “good” and “kind”. In reality, they are nervous system strategies for survival. When your needs, your anger, your limits, and your truth are repeatedly suppressed, your system stays in a state of chronic stress. Quiet, constant stress that builds over time. This is one of the most common drivers I see behind chronic symptoms including fatigue, pain, anxiety, autoimmune conditions, and long term illness.
Recovery requires honesty.
Learning to feel what you feel.
Learning to name what you need.
Learning to stop abandoning your own needs for the comfort of others.
This is not selfish. It is nervous system regulation in action. It takes bravery to look at the root cause, and then consistency to create new behaviours. It’s not easy... but it is possible. And for so many of us, it is the way out of symptoms and towards a new life.💗 Follow @amarilovecoaching for structured tools and guidance that support real recovery.

💗 This one is for anyone who’s been questioned, do 💗 This one is for anyone who’s been questioned, doubted, or dismissed. Being chronically sick is hard enough. Being disbelieved while sick? That’s a wound on top of a wound. For a long time, I tried to sound convincing to doctors and alternative healing practitioners. But the turning point came when I stopped making a case, and started holding myself with trust. When we’re dismissed, ignored, or not believed, especially in vulnerable moments, it sends a danger signal to the nervous system.
Over time, these moments build up. They reinforce chronic stress, shame, and self-doubt. The brain learns to stay alert: The mindbody system keeps the symptoms in persistence. Many of us don’t just experience symptoms.
We also experience doctors shrugging.
Friends changing the subject.
Family members getting uncomfortable - or walking away.
The pain of the chronic condition is real.
But so is the pain of being unseen in it.🌸 A Practice for Today:
Place your hand on your heart.
Let your system hear something it rarely does:
“I believe you. I’m not going anywhere.”
Stay with that; breathe into it.
Let that become the new pattern, connection to your own truth, instead of proof for others.💬 Comment “Help” and I’ll DM you the direct link to the free resource library.

💗 What if your symptoms are carrying a message wor 💗 What if your symptoms are carrying a message worth listening to?I know how consuming and relentless symptoms can feel. I lived in that reality for years and it shaped every part of my life.During my recovery, I searched endlessly for answers. I read widely, looking for something that could explain what was happening and show me a way forward.Books like When the Body Says No by Gabor Maté helped me see the deeper patterns beneath the symptoms. One line has stayed with me:
“Learn to read symptoms not only as problems to be overcome but as messages to be heeded.”Maté explains how patterns like people-pleasing, self-silencing, and over-functioning often begin early in life. At the time, they help us feel safe. But over the years, they can create inner tension that wears down the system. This can lead to long-term chronic symptoms, especially when the system is already under pressure. The good news is these patterns can be shifted.Mind-body healing turns these insights into practice through nervous system regulation, somatic tools, brain rewiring, and emotional integration. These are the foundations I now share with people every day.Symptoms often carry meaning. They ask for something to be recognised, addressed, or supported. Exploring that possibility can open a path to healing that is intelligent, compassionate, and grounded in lived experience.🌸 If reading feels manageable, I’ve shared a summary of When the Body Says No on my website. And if it doesn’t, that’s okay. You don’t need to take it all in at once. You can be supported step by step.💬 Comment “Help” and I’ll DM you the direct link to the free resource library.

Rest not helping? If you are living with chronic i Rest not helping?
If you are living with chronic illness, your system may be in collapse or freeze, both protective nervous system states that limit capacity.
A state of persistent fatigues is nothing to do with tiredness; nor is it laziness or giving up. It is your brain and autonomic nervous system trying to protect you.And the tricky thing? Freeze means it’s difficult to feel what is happening, and Collapse mimics rest; but real restoration doesn’t happen there.According to Polyvagal theory, your Mindbody system registers danger, even when you’re lying in bed or doing typical daily activities. Here’s the hopeful part: When you understand the mind-body connection, fear begins to ease. From there, small, repeated safety cues can help your system shift into recovery.Your system is wired to heal in connection, and when no one is physically there, even a symbol of safety can begin to melt the freeze. Here are 4 kinds of signals I recommend to help move out of freeze or collapse:
1. Recovery Rhythm
Developing a recovery rhythm: doing certain activities regularly gives your nervous system predictability, which helps it register safety.
2. Soothing voice
Whether it is your own voice, a guided meditation, or someone you trust, vocal tone is a powerful signal to the vagus nerve. A calm, steady voice helps your system shift from protection toward connection.
3. Somatic Touch
Supportive physical contact, such as placing your hand on your heart or using techniques like Havening Technique activates oxytocin and reduces internal alarm signals.
4. Repeated doses of connection
Reading words from someone who understands, texting a safe friend, or listening to someone speak who “really gets it” can gradually create connection which will soften the freeze response. It is not about doing more, or “pushing through”. It is about doing what your system recognises as safe... With the right guidance, the right tools, and the right knowledge, these persistent symptoms can change.💬 Comment “Help” and I’ll DM you the free resource library.

The healing journey can feel lonely, especially wh The healing journey can feel lonely, especially when your symptoms are invisible and the people around you do not understand.I had already asked everyone for help; doctors, hospitals, friends, family... and nobody had the answer. Over time, I became isolated because nobody truly understood what I was living with. On top of the lack of a cure in mainstream medicine, there was a constant undertone that this condition was not real or not serious. The isolation, the loneliness, was extreme.Neuroscience and somatic recovery work show that our brain and nervous system are built to thrive through co-regulation. In safe, attuned connection, we can shift out of fight or flight in real time; we co-regulate. You do not need someone to fix you. You need someone trained to work with the nervous system, who can be fully present, attuned to your cues. From that place you can take steps forward on the recovery path - using brain rewiring, beliefs work, deeper somatic practices, and shifting into new patterns.🌸 Try this:
• Imagine being held by someone kind and notice how it feels.
• Let that image soften in your chest as you breathe, like a warm glow.
• Or call a friend and say, “Can we talk about something real?”
Even one moment of safe connection can begin to shift your brain’s wiring.💬 Comment “Help” and I’ll DM you the free resource library.

👇 Dr John Sarno and Dr Deepak Chopra are speaking 👇 Dr John Sarno and Dr Deepak Chopra are speaking to chronic health conditions. Many ongoing symptoms are the body’s protection against suppressed stressors and emotions that never had space. When you turn toward what is true, your nervous system and brain can recalibrate. The body can follow.“You don’t have to fix your body to heal. You have to feel your feelings; and that’s how your body will follow.”  Dr. Deepak Chopra is referring here to the way that healing can start by feeling, rather than thinking or doing or trying to “fix”. When emotions move, your nervous system settles and your brain and body start to change.“There’s nothing like a little physical pain to keep your mind off your emotional problems.” Dr. John Sarno is talking about his groundbreaking theory of TMS (The Mindbody Syndrome) - suggesting that the brain uses pain and other chronic symptoms to distract from tough or negative feelings. And that it’s a super-effective strategy. If you are in agony, it’s hard to connect to an emotion or to focus on anything other than that particular agonising pain or symptom.Maybe your symptoms are speaking. 💬 Comment “Help” and I’ll DM you the direct link to the free resource library.
